Rode over to the Natural History Museum, Los Angeles over on Exposition and a few lights before hitting the 110. The museum is free on the first Tuesdays of every month. All of the other museums in Exposition Park are free everyday. The Science Center, the space shuttle Endeavour is in the big white shed in the right of the photograph. There is also the California African American Museum and the lovely rose garden. You can also visit USC's Fisher Museum of Art, you can see it across Exposition from the rose garden.
The Gem and Mineral Hall is always interesting. Currently on exhibit i an extremely rare Blue Moon diamond, from the Cullinan Mine in South Africa. Yes I did find controversy surrounding this mine. I have struggled with allowing myself to like art and other museum pieces that are associated to major conflict. Any opinions? Can a Natural History Museum avoid this, unfortunately I do not think so.
Back to bikes. Two things first to get here I have to ride through the Venice/ Culver intersection that I have mentioned being unsafe. I rode smoothly through and felt good. Cars and bikes seem to be adjusting to the new painted lanes.
Also on Exposition, heading back west is full of cracks and crevices. If I were under water I would say there is five feet visibility, as I find myself looking down in front of me for most of the ride. Luckily the street has always felt safe as far as cars are concerned, with bikes lanes all the way, so I don't feel unsafe focusing more of my attention to the rode. You got the expo if a tire pops.
Happy Adventuring.
